We are excited to announce our first Etymon wide staff cocktail competition. It doesn’t matter if you work front-of-house, back-of-house or you are already in the bar, we want Etymon staff from all areas of the business to participate and be titled as the overall Cocktail Champion of Etymon in the competition arena on Monday 25th of March at the Four Pillars Lab. 

Vanguard Luxury Brands has partnered with us to provide you with all of the tools (and spirits) to help you showcase your bartending brilliance and assist you in the creation of your very own signature cocktail.

The theme of the competition is Australian Craft Spirits and you are encouraged to use your creativity and taste buds to create the perfect cocktails.

There are a few helpful parameters to work within:

Drink Families to work within:
Highball, Spritz, Stir Down or Sour

Brands to work with:
Marionette Liqueurs, Gospel Rye Whiskey, Morris Whiskey, Four Pillars Gin, Crawleys Syrups, Rhubi and Aether Vodka. Mixers and garnishes are for you to choose.

Don’t worry, you won’t be out of pocket or left to create alone – Vanguard are generously providing your stock for creation and your venues Bar Manager will be on hand to guide and assist you. For all those who register, your Bar Manager will set up a convenient time for you both to help guide you while you create and curate.

Your cocktail needs to include at least one of the above and cannot exceed 60mls of alcohol.

Thu, 15th February:
Registration of Participation Open

Tue, 20th February, 10:30-11:30:
Online Training & product knowledge session with the Vanguard Brand Ambassador’s & Creative Drinks Director.
At this session you will be briefed on the products included in the competition, given examples on how to use them and given the chance to ask industry experts for advice.

Thur, 22nd February, in-venue training and product knowledge session:
In-venue Training & product knowledge session with an Etymon Bar Manager.
At this session you will get to taste the products included in the competition, be shown how to use them and then have a chance to mix something for your Bar Manager to help guide you on.
There will be a CBD Training session and a North Sydney Training session. Details to come from Colin and Kieran.

Thu, 29th February:
Registration Closes

Thu, 15th February – Thu, 7th of March:
Cocktail creation time & training session with your Bar Managers

6th of March:
Submission’s due.

7th-10th of March:
Preliminary Round.
This will be done, onsite at your venue, and will be judged by a member of the Vanguard Ambassador team, Paolo & Neil.

Mon, 11th March:
Finalist revealed.
There will be 6 finalists chosen to present at the Four Pillars Lab on Monday 25th of March.

Tue, 12th March – Fri, 22nd of March:
Finalists will be assigned a Mentor to help perfect their cocktail.

Mon, 25th of March:
Competition Day – and everyone in Etymon is invited!

The competition will be held at the Four Pillars Lab in Surry Hills from 4-7pm. All Etymon staff members are invited to help cheer on the finalists and food and beverage will be provided. There will be lucky door prizes for attending and invitations will be sent out on the 11th of March. RSVPs would be appreciated.
